Policies & Procedures
Ground Rules
All participants in Center for Journal Therapy programs, whether a one-day workshop or a two-year program at the Therapeutic Writing Institute, are asked to agree to these ground rules.
This group CARES!
C onfidentiality. You are welcome to talk about your own experience with anyone. Please do not talk about anyone else’s experience, or share course content, with anyone without specific permission.
A cceptance. You may or may not agree with all that is said, shared, experienced. Take what’s useful and leave the rest. Please keep your feedback and comments open-hearted, friendly, and at the level of observation rather than advice-giving.
R espect. We’ve got busy lives and different learning styles. However, it is a sign of respect to your peers and teachers to be present, self-regulating, and kind.
E xcellence. Please bring your best practice to this work, your unique blend of skills, talent, training, experience, and passion.
S elf-managagement. Participation is a bit like Goldilock’s comfort — you’re seeking the “just right” balance between “too much” and “not enough.” Be mindful of your own self-care; pace yourself. If you begin to feel overstimulated, take a break. Also be mindful of the self-management spectrum on sharing; ideally, you’ll find your pocket in which you can take healthy risks for the good of the group.
Tuition Policy
Tuition is payable by credit card (preferred) or check. We accept Visa, MasterCard, and Discover. Space can be held in a class or workshop, but registration is not considered final until payment is received. Please see the Therapeutic Writing Institute website for course tuition for trainees and non-trainees, along with drop/add/refund/credit policies specific to TWI.
