The Power of Writing
In this era of shrinking benefits and slashed budgets, therapists must help clients find ways to become more self-reliant. Journal writing is simple, accessible, inexpensive and available to nearly anyone. Most mental health professionals agree that writing down thoughts and feelings in a notebook or on a computer screen can be a helpful adjunct to therapy. Many advocate that their clients keep journals during treatment. However, very few clinicians have learned the tools, techniques and strategies that will transform the everyday diary into a powerful therapeutic tool.

In this course, one of the pioneers of the therapeutic writing movement offers the theory and practice of journal therapy through lecture, discussion, case study and experiential learning. Participants find these methodologies easy, enjoyable, effective and immediately useful.
