Poem of the Month: September 2005

Apache Wedding Blessing

Now you will feel no rain,
for each of you will be shelter to the other.

Now you will feel no cold,
for each of you will be warmth to the other.

Now there is no more loneliness,
for each of you will be companion to the other.

Now you are two bodies,
but there is only one life before you.

Go now to your dwelling place
to enter into the days of your togetherness.

And may your days be good and long upon the earth.

- Traditional

Journal prompts:

  • Did you attend any weddings or anniversary celebrations this summer? Write Captured Moments about them.

  • Write about the healthiest marriage you know. What do you admire about it? If it is your own -- congratulations!

  • If you are in relationship -- or desire to be -- write your own credo of what would bless it. Start by writing a list of the qualities present in your idea of optimum marriage or partnership. Invite your partner to do this as well, and compare your lists/credos.
